Time to Ride Vs Distance
Having the Time to ride more but less time to ride is a factor - at least during the week.
To put it differently, being willing to allocate time to riding more often is perhaps a better typecaster of the bikeaholic - "I'd sooner be riding my bike than _____" - You fill in the blank.
During the week, reality of needing to work is likely to limit such efforts to less than 2 hrs - a 30 mile ride then is roughly the max - for many [if not most] of us here.
Since there are 5 weekdays and only two weekend days - for MOST of us -[myself often not included] the average must then be lowered by "advanced bikeaholism"

"reality of needing to work"
Actually in the spring it's not that uncommon for me to sneak in a 165km ride after work and still get home before dark. The thing that kills my average is those damn recovery rides. I may have to consider recovering by just sitting around on my ass :-)

Properly Accounted For

Thus further
lowering
your average - since We know you wouldn't wanta break that string of consecutive days having ridden - & thus you would undoubtedly account for it as a zero km "ride"

"wouldn't want to break that string"
Naaa, I gave up on that string back in July'02 after the pavement surfing episode in the Catskills which forced me to take 6 days in a row off. Kinda upsetting when I considered the broken hip of April'98 only kept me off for 12 days. Prior to that, there was the voluntary dismount from a speeding motorcycle in September'94, so I'm starting to think I just can't get much past the 4 year mark. I plan to be REAL careful in '06 and will voluntarily break the string prior just so I don't tempt fate too much.
