Paris Nice TTT Format [no spoiler]

So what do we think about this? ;)

The Rules: a team time trial but the winning time is taken on the first rider to cross the line and each rider gets credited with the time they then cross the line with. This means two things: a team is no longer as fast as its fourth or fifth rider, it doesn't have to finish as a group.

Then it's not really a team time trial, is it? It's basically a multi-rider leadout train for their strongest time trialist. What if that's not their top GC rider?

It just seems like this won't improve anything and just make a sport that's already confusing to the non-enthusiast even moreso.

I have a better idea; get rid of time trial bikes and aero helmets. Make the riders use equipment that the average cyclist can relate to. It will save teams and sponsors a boatload of money, which they can invest in rider salaries and growing the sport.

Been saying that for years. It is just StuPit. ;)

The last few tts I rode (non-sanctioned, obviously) I rode "Merckx Division" where there was a separate class for those on road bikes, no aero bars, regular wheels. Worked for me.
I don't particularly care about the ttt rule. but the new helmets are sure Fugly....

I actually made the comment about aero helmets before I watched the recap of the Paris-Nice TTT. Visma has taken the aero helmet thing WAY too far and I'm really surprised that the UCI hasn't banned them. I suspect this may be the first and last race where we see them. They remind me of this guy:

BTW, SBS is covering Paris-Nice if anyone wants to try connecting to them via VPN. The broad cast starts at 8:50 Eastern time.

UPDATE: I'm watching today's stage and they're discussing the UCI potentially banning Visma's helmets.

Did any of the team sprinters cross the line first? I was wondering if the sprinters could hang on.
