Anyone else catch that little Phil commentary snippet regarding CV-19? As 'in the event' the race gets cancelled due to the possibility of a chuck of positives.

Apparently whom ever has the Yellow Jersey on if/when will be the winner of the Tour.

Who had it for 10 days 2019, a different type of tactic there.

Pino, Landa is riding for the Bahrain McClaren team this season.

You likely have a different feed available to you. The US nbc-sn feed hardly dwelled on or showed much of Landa or his team on Sat. He could have crashed and I might not have seen it or read about it.

I caught Phil's observation, Sparky.

In many past years, a potential contending team was not necessarily interested in taking the yellow jersey early in the Tour, since it would put more pressure on them to defend it.

Since this TdF has a decent probability of being ended at any time, wonder if one of the contender teams will figure to try and take yellow sooner than later?

Or just Alaphilippe. ;)

I saw some press indicating he rode/won the stage with clinchers with tubes FWIW. Spesh Cottons, and Roval carbon wheels that aren't not TL either. CLX wheels I think it was...

I guess Anthony Perez got his red dots internal instead of external.

Never got to put on the Jersey...

The 29-year-old was chasing back after getting a puncture when he hit a Cofidis team car at 58kph.

Now that (Stage 4) was an exciting finish. Who woulda thunk?

Bonus of gorgeous scenery in the rural French countryside.

Enjoying this Tour. Hope it lasts to Paris.

Favorable mentions, not that Visma is too much a surprise, but Sepp Kuss and Wout Van Aert... yikes.

Not a small front chain ring on the final climb either. ;)

It's already happened, but fortunately, not to any of the riders yet.

The plot thickens...

So, will Jumbo Visma and Roglic continue to dominate or will his upstart compatriot Pogacar steal the race? It's going to be a wild final week!

Can only stay tuned!

I'll admit I was hoping for anything but Ineos domination, but I've enjoyed watching any number of exciting stages so far, with the closely bunched standings and the dramas playing out.

To make it competitive, Pogacar will probably need to gain a few more seconds in the Alps before the ITT, but anything can happen with punctures, crashes, or just a rider having a bad day physically, so who knows.

During the ITT of the 2019 Vuelta, Roglic beat Pogacar handily by about 3.2%. That course around Pau, France, was technical, twisty, and hilly, but not up a mtn and Pogacar admittedly went out too quickly and faded.

More telling was the 2020 Slovenian National TT Championships back at the end of June where the course was under 20km, but climbed over 2200 ft. Pogacar bested Roglic in that race by 9 sec or 0.48%.

Uran is a competent TTist also.

Who knows what will unfold. In any case, it's better than watching Ineos dominate the entire event, IMO.

In my opinion it will be really close at the TT, it's at 40 seconds now, and my crystal ball is telling me that it could be down to 30 seconds come the TT.
Thank heavens Ineos is out of it.
I'd love to see Porte grab the third step

tt

The final section of the tt is one honkin’ uphill. I remember a quote from Eddy that the second tt of the Tour is an ultimate test. Poducar seems more explosive, maybe he gets some seconds in the mountain stages. If Roglic and Poducar are battling the climbs this week, and then every second counts in the tt, this could be awesome.

Wow, stage 17 was one incredible slugfest. Very enjoyable viewing.

The kept calling the final stretch a cycle path. Ouch. I'd need a mtb with granny gear or an eBike to ride up that.

I really don't want to root against Roglic and his boyz, especially Sepp Kuss, but I'd love to see the gap between the top few riders get narrowed as a result of today's stage, thus making the ITT the crucial stage.

In any case, this year's TdF has been the most exciting in the last decade, IMO.
