Eddy Merkcx

Forgive me if this was already covered, but I thought I'd share the latest news on Eddy Merkcx: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/eddy-merckx-suffered-haemorrhage-crash-will-remain-hospital-next-days-440414

There's no mention of whether he was wearing a helmet, but I'm guessing not. Ought to stir up the helmet wars hornets nest, I reckon...

One of the things I hear from mid 70s cyclist is balance issues. Many get recumbent low rider trikes. And with the electric assist market, folks can not get dropped totally for the ride when the grades pick up.

As far as Merckx goes, sure hope he recovers. But if not, talk about dies by the sword.

Good news, Eddie was cleared to leave the hospital and is now recovering at home.

FWIW, it turns out he was wearing a helmet.
