Yes, I have the UPPER, and for the sort of trails they show in that video, I have a set of 650B wheels for it on which I run 50mm tyres (48mm nominal, but they inflate wider on 25mm internal width rims).
However, for most of the riding I do on that bike, which is a mixture of sealed roads and reasonably good quality fire roads, I use 700c wheels with 36mm tyres (the Compass Bon Jon Pass). Setup like that it's pretty much like riding a more comfortable road race bike - I take it out with the local ACT Veterans CC training bunch a couple of days a week, and don't really notice any handicap over riding my road bike.

At 60mm/2.36", you're well into MTB sized tires. Frankly, if I felt I
needed
tires that wide, I'd probably want some real tread, suspension, and the control provided by wider bars. In other words, a mountain bike. Watching that video, I didn't see anything on those trails that I haven't done dozens of times on my gravel bikes with 40mm tires. Fatter rubber seems like overkill and I certainly wouldn't want tires with thin casings.
Is it just me or does "50mm wide, extra light tires, real supple racing rubber" seem like an oxymoron? ;-)

"In other words, a mountain bike."
Not other words, those words...
"extra light tires"
When I ordered the Soma Supple Vitesse, the EX [heavier ones] are heavier because the starting tread thickness is.. well thicker, only difference apparently. So I figured I'd use them until they ARE the Extra Lites.
