No D2R2 for me

Well today was D2R2 and I was registered, in decent but not stellar shape, and had resolved to go and try the 100k or 115k (a lot harder than the 100). Not ready for the 180 (ha ha already done that, don’t have to again).

However one of my dogs developed a serious problem (bladder stones, couldn’t pee) and required emergent surgery on Wednesday. I have not had that exact problem, but one similar enough for great empathy. I picked him up yesterday, when I would have been driving down, and while I had a sitter, no way I could justify leaving for the weekend. He’s doing well, so all is good. I did a ride with some short steep climbs in tribute.

So now I have the Dempsey Challenge (hopefully the century) at the end of September and the Moosehead Lake gravel ride in late October. Keep me riding through the season.
