Well, it sort of returned. He rode the very last stage of the race on it, which was flat and I don't think he contested the sprint, either. This was obviously just done for publicity.

The gravel bike comes with an aluminum disc brake fork. Sounds stiff but not compliant.

AG2R are supposed to be using Merckx bikes, but a lot of the team bikes are actually re-branded Ridley frames. Both brands are owned by the same company - Belgian Cycling Factory. http://cyclingfactory.be/
