Asymmetrical 4 bolt Shimano 30/46 chainring set.

Happy to see this option for the 4 arm asymmetrical 110BC 11s Shimano chainsets.

7075 Forged T6, should be decent wearing, came today for the 'climbing bike'. Such as climbing is for me. ;o

I was hoping the Ultegra 46T from the CX chainset I have might work with the 30t, but the way the bolts threaded into the inner ring make that a no go.

Shimano now sell a crankset that comes as standard with with 46-30 chainrings: https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/product/component/grx-10-speed/FC-RX600-10.html .

I prefer 42-30 or 42-29 myself, so I use 94 BCD cranks, as there are plenty of NOS chainrings around to fit that size:

Decent looking too, for more modern chainset, a peeve of mine. ;) I had not seen that chainset though, thanks for the link.

My 28/42 on The Gravel Mongrel is CX1 with a MTN spider, 4 bolt. 104? This 30/46 set is a nice plug and play option for a road climber with all 68## Di2 on it.

Also I assume once installed the Di2 front shifting with 'make' it shift fast and furious. I say that as compared to Rotor Ovals 36/53 Di2 VS Cable shifting. The Di2 speed up the shift with deterministic fashion over cabled shifting.

Side note: #weight-weenie The 6800 with these rings/bolts is same as orig 36/46, I used a 34t with the 46T orig, that must save a whole 5 grams too!. ;)

So 122-4 grams less than that Gravel chainset. #confessAMweightweenie.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges Sparky. Oval rings are notorious for slow shifting, since there are only two points on the rings where the front derailleur is in close enough proximity to shift well. I don't see how Di2 would make any difference, as I don't find it to perform any better than mechanical systems; it just requires less effort.

Brian, used QRings on both Di2 and Cabled, noticeably better faster shift Di2. Just sharing the experience regardless of conceptually not being of advantage...

Rings on, FD already low in the slot on the braze on [rivet on] hanger. Not nuts about the space to the ring, but more space on the ovals with no issues

So we will see behavior on the road VS stand later today. I suspect a lot less shifting the front and a lot more being parked in the 46 to be the case...

Update

After a handful of rides, no shifting issues. Not quite as smooth a drop to the little ring as the 34/0 SH rings. But as I said above re Oval rings, the Di2 has no issue. I got two set and will try [eventually] the other set on a cabled shifting bike and report.

Note: I had tried 34/46 with the Ultegra CX rings, subst the 34 for the 36 the chainset comes with. With those I tried a Sunrace 11-36 cassette to get lower, but for anything but loose riding I did not like the ratios.

This is the gear chart on the Domane with the 30/46_11-32. I have not noticed spacing on the rear cog annoying, but road use and sitting in the 46t front 99-44/100 of the time thus far.

I did do a test climb the other day and the extra low gear kept me seated on something I usually have to stand on. I went up it slower though...
