It's an odd event, where everyone rides whatever route they choose, as long as they check in at four specified points. Even stranger, they have to be completely self-supported and are not even allowed to ask for directions , as if there's any way to enforce that.

Have to imagine GPS being viable along a lot of the route is a wish as well.

i like the "open" event structure, but tough to police as mentioned.

what about motorpacing?!

I would be pretty hard to prevent riders from drafting trucks, if they were so inclined.
