Nick, please edit this to a NM, If you will recall Anthony specifically specified no political content. We made a fine example of why not a while back.

I can delete the thread optionally.

PC

I personally have no problem with political content. We should all just exercise some restraint and not belabor the same points endlessly.

The link doesn't seem to work now, so it's a moot point.

I appreciate that this forum is a "cyber-community" created around a shared love for cycling, but is not limited to cycling content. I also appreciate the wealth of expertise and experience in many areas of life, most often shared with respect for differences of opinion: no trolls, no ad hominen attacks, no irrational anger, quite unlike the internet generally.

"no irrational anger"

;) you mean like what transpired in the political thread Anthony came in and shut down?

To be redundant; "We made a fine example of why not a while back."

Not Vitriolic

I may have missed that thread, during one of my absences from lurking. In any event, the dialogue here is, for the most part, quite unlike much internet interaction. I often think of this site, even when I haven't visited much, as a web-island of sanity.

Compared to the 'rest' of the internets, me too. ;) Although we [I] have moments. ;O

A while back, we pretty much all agreed that political discussions were becoming too dominant and they were toxic to the general harmony here, which is why we agreed to avoid them. I don't have a problem with this video, as it's nothing more than a cute satire, but I can see the argument for avoiding a slippery slope back into the abyss. Things have been really calm and interesting here lately and I'm sure that we all want to keep it that way.

One current thread is too much? Feel free to post more cycling content.

"I think he forgot the tongue in cheek emoticon. ;)"

Fixed

And in all seriousness, the kayaking thread has been fascinating and I learned a hell of a lot, including that like a bike, it helps to get fitted. Unfortunately I've no great area's locally on L.I. to use one.

I'd spend money on a gravel bike, but we've got few area's locally with actual gravel, it's mostly deep sand. Hate sand.
