Big changes in the custom world

Richard Sachs reached the end of his waitlist and is stepping away happily.

Tom Kellogg announced today that he's taking orders until July 31 and then no more.

Tempus fugit.

It would be easy to say something snarky about steel frames at this point, but I could never insult these masters of the medium. Bon voyage and I hope you both enjoy the fruits of your labors for many years to come. You've left a massive legacy and inspired many to take up the craft. Well done!

Snark away

My steel Sachs is fully competitive with my Domane RSL, better in some respects. The main advantage if the RSL is compliance over large bumps which ATMO is due to the suspension features, not the carbon. The Sachs handles better.

Now to remind Richard he said he's continue building for existing customers. Just kidding....

A few of my steel frames are spectacular performing art IMO. The SLX 1985 Colnago and the 90s 753 with all Henry James fittings both have me no trouble staying with the front group on club ride, or used to. ;)

I think there could be some meat to the Carl Strong Theory.

Is Carl in the 'next' seat?
