I've only heard the term re: image burned on the screen, like your wallpaper...what are you referring to?

Spoofing... So when I txt Craigslist idiots they don't actually have my real SMS and phone number.
Oddy, after I asked this, last night I got ca VM then txt.
The asshole I sold the Domane to resold it and gave my number to the buyer with even txting me to see if it was OK. In 40 years I have never given someones's number without asking first. It makes my case.

Oh, I've thought about it but it's entirely traceable so I've not bothered. I'm more worried about the gubmint than I am anyone else.
Giving your number out like that is complete BS, though.
Sold my '12 Ducati Monster a couple years ago and got a letter from an insurance company saying I'd been involved in a crash that I might be financially responsible for. WTF? Called them and the kid I sold it to didn't file the paperwork (though I had done mine) so it was still in my name with the state. Kid cut a semi-blind corner too tight and slammed into the grill of an F150. Kid went to ICU but survived, bike did not. It was a glorious ride that deserved a better owner.

You are supposed to give plate with car here when you sell it, I NEVER do. Just a fresh DEQ certif showing it will pass the emissions test. FWIW

If it's something you do regularly you could get the cheapest phone off craigslist and buy a pay as you go sim for it. The stuff is so cheap now. You don't need to turn it on or even carry it with you unless you're actively buying or selling something. Or you don't even need the extra phone, just swap the sim into your current phone when you need to check messages etc.
And a fake email address is super easy with hotmail or similar. Only sign into it on a VPN if you're super paranoid?
