On the road again
Roads are pretty clear and it was in the 40s F today, so I took the cross bike out on the road - first time out since I busted my shoulder last September. Did my normal Sat am errands and tacked on a short loop. Felt great, my busted leg is 100% and the shoulder was comfortable on the hoods. I felt it in the shoulder when I hit a pothole, but not bad. I'm not in great shape but not in terrible shape - could punch it up a sprinter's hill pretty good.
7 months off makes you appreciate riding outdoors.
Also signed up for a couple sea kayak classes at Bean - got to pick up where I left off last year.
Now I just have to determine whether to ride or snowshoe tomorrow.

Thanks Roy
Looks cool. I may get a kayak at some point, but it's going to be a model I've paddled in and know I'm comfortable in. Last year I used two, was miserably uncomfortable in one (Wilderness Tsunami) and totally comfortable in the other (Current Designs). Probably also had to do with the sizing, as the CD had a smaller cockpit.
I rebooked the Antarctica trip I cancelled last year, they have Prijons and Current Designs, so I'm hoping to be comfy!

On the road Bike again
Great being back on the road after a layoff. Commuted 3 days this week on the cross bike, took the Domane out today for the first time since September. First thing I noticed is how perfect the position feels. Felt good riding, ready to go. Looking forward to Bike Maine in September, a week riding way up north in Aroostook County. There will be lots of potatoes to carbo load.
Usually I ride year round so don't have much layoff, but having one makes you appreciate how great riding on the road really is.

Once it occurs to you it can get taken away by broken shoulders and hips and shit... Feel good just to roll and feel wind hitting your face etc.
I seem to have a bit more piss and vinegar this year myself. Nago-ized some more pave today, shorts too!
