My x-mas tree is one thirsty mofo

I have never seen a tree drink water like this noble fir, not had that variety previously.

I put it on the stand outside after cutting the bottom as you should do. It got windy after drinking around a gallon in 5-6 hours. It blew over so I brought it inside, wind relentless still. About emptied the big stand reservoir within 10 hours. Filled it @ 08:00 and 8 hr later 2+“ of water gone.

I think i heard it burp...

I wonder if it is the fresh chainsaw cut. Always cut with a bow saw previously.

You have any pets? My cat drinks out of the tree water reservoir.

Cat lives in the ADU, tree is in the house.

Re-read that. Kinda sounds like there is a tree house in the equation...

Did you mistakenly purchase a cactus this year by any chance? (Kidding)

Hygrometer indicates 45% middle of the house . We do have forced air, but I closed the register by the tree. Warmer = higher, tree is next to 6' glass patio sliding door, thus cooler and perhaps a litter lower there...

Topped it off around 6:00 am. 6 hours later it just took 28oz. FWIW. So still drinkinf about a gallon a day.

Stuck the Hygrometer in the tree and the reading went up humidity, but down temp each 3 points.
