I finished the Col Du telegraphe today.Its a little shorter than the stelvio but on average steeper. its not as pretty either, but it certainly is a formidable climb.

I think I'll takes Greg's advice and try the Galibier. I could use a less steep climb.

I wonder how long a chain lasts in these conditions? 95% of my ride time is fairly steep climbing.

Considering that you're indoors where one would presume that your chain is not getting attacked by dirt and moisture, your chain should last pretty much indefinitely if it's kept lubed.

Make sure you do the south side, the north side is much more difficult.
