I've only watched about half of it...
...but it's pretty insane. They're so matter-of-fact about what's required to beat doping tests, how easy it is and the steps that the Russians took with their athletes. If the Armstrong debacle didn't make you question everything you thought you knew about doping in sports, this definitely will.

The direction of the body of investigative research for the project sure took a detour. And made for a whole different documentary than initially intended.
So why did the IOC fold and allow the Russian Athletes to go to the RIO OLYS, ignoring the WADA finding of the investigations???
If LA can get a lifetime ban, seems the entire Russian Sports body ought to as well, following same example. In fact it seems like the Russian example went a whole lot further than what got reported in LA's case.

You're right
The Russian athletes, their trainers and anyone else associated should have been banned for life, IF WADA was going to be fair about it. Unfortunately, WADA is like the IOC, the UCI and the NFL for that matter; it's a little fiefdom that's not really answerable to much of anyone when it comes to its decisions. It's not beyond being influenced by external forces nor is it incorruptible. With as embarrassing to WADA as the Russian scandal was/is, I'm sure that they just wanted to make it go away as quickly and quietly as possible.
