Camera views well planned out. ;) The helmet CAM shot from above was a nice touch I thought.

At some point we need to stop celebrating and sponsoring such stupid shit. IMHO.

I'm glad you said that...

...as that was my initial reaction. I see this stuff and it completely turns me off toward the product sponsoring the stunt. These companies - Red Bull in particular - don't seem to give a damn about the safety of athletes, they just want bigger and stupider stunts. It's time that some of them - like Red Bull - get sued out of existence for encouraging reckless behavior. Kudos to Cliff Bar for recognizing that there has to a be a limit to the risks you can put your brand on. At least they show a semblance of a conscience.

There's a saying in the climbing community: "There are old climbers and there are bold climbers, but there are no old, bold climbers."

That said, the jump over the peloton was neither anything new (it's been done at other races) or particularly crazy in the overall scheme of things.

I hope they told the peloton in advance about this stunt. I can imagine a distracted racer causing a pile up.

Those guys are probably used to all kind of distractions.

They seemed to handle it reasonably well.

"I hope they told the peloton in advance about this stunt. I can imagine a distracted racer causing a pile up."

With that massive ramp on both sides of the road, it's hard for me to imagine that there wasn't a discussion ahead of time between local authorities and the event's coordinators.

This stunt took a lot of practice to pull off, and the rider literally stuck the landing on a road bike, not a gravel bike or CX bike. Unbelievable. Stunts like this are usually extensively practiced for using a foam pit, into which the rider practices their trajectory and landing.

I have yet to hear of riders mimicking their Red Bull idols by somersaulting to their deaths, but there will always be a few I suppose.

Not sure about summersaulted to their death, but definitely to their wheelchair!

Even the best can make mistakes.

That pony caused a bit of a split in the peloton! LOL!

And that one rider at the end seemed to know what he was doing in guiding the pony into a side street. Well done!
