OT - photo and video hosting site?

What sites do people recommend for hosting photos and videos? I want to be able to send links to people so they can view the photos and videos.

I have been using http://www.host-ed.net for years now as a free service.

Recently it went inactive after I hosted the vintage bike pics here. Free service has no support, so my emails went unanswered. If it was a way to get me to start paying after 4-5 years of free, it worked. ;)

I decided after years of free I'd just become a paying customer leaving all the hosted and posted stuff intact.

They answered my requests quickly and expediently after I sent the yearly $48.00 fee.

This is my only experience with a site since I left my clients behind in NJ and could not park stuff on a server I was servicing anymore. But maybe send Anthony an email, he might have space for some PayPal donations??

So you could try it out there as free. I will say that on occasion as free it [my site] would not resolve and hosted stuff would be missing for a little while. But really not hardly at all in 4-5 years. Since I started the pay for service, it was moved to different servers [with mirror] and after waiting for the DNS to update not a hitch and speed as should be. There were times as a free moocher I would have some delays FTPing stuff to host/post.

I use FireFTP add in for Firefox to maintain and upload also for years now. Recommend that as well. I have a few little web-sites there for different stuff, guitars, woods, bikes etc...

Google Photos

I have used Google Photos for years. It is very easy to share photos, albums, or videos. There also are apps for ios, Android, and desktops that will automatically backup your photos in the cloud. I have over ten years of important photos backedup in the cloud. Your photos are marked private unless you set up to share them. Of course best of all it is free.

"have used Google Photos for years"

Are there size or storage limits? I am sure I could look it up...

Unless they've changed it, Google Photos gives you unlimited storage, with the proviso that your images are limited to 16 megapixel and videos to 1080p.

Whatever you do, stick with a stable company

I don't use online hosting anymore since I got burned by Webshots, who screwed over all of their customers by changing their format a few years back. Stick with Google or one of the other large hosting services, so you know your images will be there for the long haul.

I'm still trying to figure out how Nick managed to post from Google Photos.

Like this.

By the way, excellent background.
