Tom Dumoulin Outclimbs Quintana
On a 5% grind the ITT stage winner shook Nairo Quintana off his wheel, not by a nose either. Was Quintana starting his recovery cool down early or what? He lost 14 seconds in the last 250 meters.

Man today's stage was awesome!
Doumalin was a shark out there, O loved how when he came up to Quintana, isntead of just doing the easy thing and sitting on his wheel, he just went to the front and blew it up.
Maybe we are starting to see someone that can beat Froome in a year or two.

Well, Dumoulin showed no weakness today. There are still mountains to come, but he's looking really strong.
It was cool to see Quintana get second in a sprint, even if it was a sprint among climbers. ;-)

If you watched the stage today, did Quintana make any attempt to slow down the peloton when Dumoulin had his emergency?

I didn't watch it, but according to the CyclingNews report the "gentlemans' agreement" held for a brief time, until Zakarin (who I think was sitting 4th on GC, about 3 minutes down) attacked on the climb. Quintana and Nibali both followed, and everybody went hard from then on.

And once they went hard, it was incredible racing from then on! Kudos to Nibali for some great descending skills.

With a profile like this is there any chance for a shake up on the podium?

I'm afraid the only excitement may be if someone loses it in a corner. Which is not unlikely - every one of the top five will be pushing it as hard as they can stomach.

You do realize that it's a TT, Correct? there most definitely will be a shake up of the podium tomorrow, the only question is who will get shook up and who will get shook down.My prediction is that Doumalin Takes it all with Pinot and Nibali rounding out the podium and Quintana gets left empty handed

As GTs go, this edition was the most ripe for discussion, real racing discussion, that I can remember. Don't trip over the irony.
Thanks to everyone who joined in, it was a pretty tense ride.

I thought it was a fitting ending
While I like Quintana, seeing Dumoulin triumph over adversity and fatigue to win the day just seemed right. Quintana deserved to hang onto 2nd place for his efforts and having Nibali on the podium gave the locals something to be happy about. It's too bad that Pinot didn't make the podium because he definitely helped animate the race, but that's racing.
It was a lot of fun watching the top contenders sparring in the mountains, sans teammates, just mano-a-mano. It makes me wonder if reducing the size of GT teams wouldn't make for more consistently interesting racing.
Dumoulin showed that you can't be a one-dimensional rider and expect to triumph in Grand Tours unless you're really lucky; you have to be able to climb AND ride a competitive TT. But for his "sick day", he would have trounced everyone. He's the Real Deal and it's going to be interesting to watch him now that he has the confidence boost from a GT win.
It was also heartwarming to see Tejay Van Garderen get a stage win. I can't help thinking that he's peaked and is not likely to ever win a GT, but if he can add some excitement occasionally, that's cool.
