Connie Carpenter (and Davis Phinney)

Thought the TTFers might enjoy this. Great to see that she is still actively riding in addition to being involved with the Phinney Foundation. She's apparently quite funny too.

Thanks for the memories.
Made me recall the '84 olympics bike race where she won easily and Steve Bauer finished 2nd to Alexi Grewal by only inches.

The '84 Olympics were the most memorable Olympics off all time for me.

As a cycling-obsessed teenager, I remember being enthralled by seeing a young Indian-American kid take the road race and Canadian Bauer taking second, as well as Connie Carpenter and Rebecca Twigg's 1-2, and Nelson Vails' thighs.

I remember '84 as well

Not sure how "easily" Carpenter won as she threw her bike to beat Rebecca Twigg by a micron.

And the men's race was ironic because Bauer was the sprinter yet Grewal came around him.

They were cool races indeed.

Yes indeed re Carpenter barely beating Twigg.

Yes, also re Nelson "The Cheetah" Vails - entertaining us - and the 1st black cyclist to win an olympic medal.
