The TPMS systems used on an '11 Impreza and same year Forester were activating every month. Subaru went cheap not telling you which tire, thus you had to check them all. Inevitably there was one tire down around 25psi, so in that respect the system worked.

Bottom line was the original stock tires (Bridgestone Duelers) sucked and would lose air every month, all year. It was annoying to say the least but did train me to check the tire pressures - well, I had no choice.

Then I switched to General Altimax RT43 on both vehicles and have had no air leakage and no TPMS alerts.

The one and only TPMS I've had worked quite reliably. So my view is certainly colored positive.

Some of you may still remember I had a lot of trouble with dented/cracked rims with my previous car. Well, each and every time, the TPMS let me know that my tires were losing air. (those tires don't lose air, not for months) And each and every time, it was always related to a cracked rim!

I now have a slightly higher profile tires so the TPMS stayed quiet for all of last year. Except that one time when I got a nail in the tire.

Basically, they worked as advertised.

I have no doubt there're unreliable TPMS devices out there, just as there're defective of every part out there. I have no idea what percentage of them are giving false alarms.

Here's the road that I bought the snow tires for:

(picture was taken after my car climbed it)

I'm very happy with my decision. The place I stayed during my trip, the roads were only plowed when there's more than 1/2 foot of snow. The rest of the time, it was left as is, I doubt I would have been able to make it up without the snows. Not to mention I had to go up and down it everyday for 2 weeks.

In addition, the car was much more stable whenever there's any snow on the road. I'm pretty impressed.

More like having 4 sets of good CLAWS. Real nice secure feeling.

The cabin (that makes the snow tires worth it, in my view):

Well that seals it, Blizzaks and rims for next season, though I'll look for a late winter deal.

Thx for the update April.

That looks a little like Killington in the background, which if I'm guessing right would put you somewhere north of there, Pittsford maybe. Nice spot.
