If they can build in inclination and declination...
...it would be the most realistic trainer on the market. That would require dynamically recalibrating the resistance based on the angle.

I think they are really going to have to up the max wattege for this to be a commercially viable product, but it does seem pretty cool.
On another note, a guy I know just bought that new Tacx Neo and says that it's amazing.

If you can run on it too, I want one.

Absolutely
Agree with Henoch, at max 750 watts I couldn't even do a full warmup....ha ha that's a joke.
Actually I'm sure some accomplished racers would care about that, but I wonder how many others would. All the ergvidos and Moninger training sessions I have never get me anywhere close to that, and even though they are scaled to my FTP, even with an FTP of 400 I don't think they would hit it.
For a good racer doing a full on sprint workout, sure, but anything else? How long can Froomie hold 750?
Speaking of which I just put a new trainer tire on the Computrainer, as I'm looking (through a glass darkly) at 194 miles and 16,500' climbing in Mallorca at the end of April, so let the winter festivities begin...

Dan, indeed you are right, most people including pros won't really hit 750 much if at all on the trainer, and to do any kind of real sprint workout you really want to do it out on the road, however if one is dropping that kind of coin on a trainer you would want it to at least be able to do a sprint or some short 30 second burst type of workouts, all be it maybe a handful of times per year.
As to how long Froome can hold 750...
Good luck with the training.

Make this thread sticky so we can remember to ask about that new tire this spring. Tear it up Dan.

Trainer tires
Yeah I cook one tire per year on my new regimen. The tread doesn't wear through but it delaminates and begins peeling off the tire. You can run it for awhile, but eventually the tube blows.
With the new trainer tire on and the studs on my winter commuter, I'm ready for winter. Also just got some decent lights for my cross bike to give a third commuter option.

I'm a wimp, 2 seasons on a conti training tire. Might want to look closely I guess.
That treadmill looks cool. Can't imagine that 750 watts isn't good enough for anyone other than a cat 1 for anything other than full on sprints.

Watts are pretty hard for me to come by on my Tacx Bushido smart trainer. I swear that thing under reports watts. 750 would be more than plenty for me.

"Speaking of which I just put a new trainer tire on the Computrainer"
I used to just use old tires, and they would get belt shifts and lump pretty fast on the CT. l finally got a Conti training tire, had I known how quite it was going to be, I would have done it sooner based on that alone...
Can't comment on wear of that trainer tire, I would up riding outside way more than I expected to last year/winter.

Maybe this is a viable application...
...for those goofy airless tires. They don't have any casing plies or treads to separate.

I certainly could use a "cool new trainer" as I just did my first set of the FRC intervals in the Ergvideo series and am yet again reminded of the mental difference between starting interval 2 and 6...

Ouch
I hear you Greg, those suck. Though I might cite physical differences in the later intervals as well (subtle things, like you can't turn the freakin' pedals...).
I've done a couple erg rides and been impressed with my lack of form. About to jump in as I begin my quixotic mission to the Mallorca 312 at the end of April. I may go back to Smelly's Gran Fondo plan instead of the Moninger plan, we'll see. I'm going to start out at 3 sessions per week in an effort to maintain quality and not burn out. Anyway, FTP test tomorrow, yippee....
