Kissena velodrome article in this week's New Yorker

The Sporting Scene

Twilight Racing at New York’s Last Remaining Velodrome

It leads with a large scale video but right now it's only sound but no picture. Flash, HTML-5, the ad worked. But it sounds like a good minor documentary/introduction.

The New Yorker allows 3 articles a month for non-subscribers. Beyond that I think it's 99cents each or unlimited with subscription.

In years past, the NYC Century, run by Transportation Alternatives, routed the century route into the Velodome for a lap around the track.

Pretty neat and nothing I had ever done before or since. It's a steep concrete track and you have to maintain some speed else you feel like you want to fall off the wall.

It was a good way to break up the ride.
