Modern bicycles float

Coverage from Gent-Wevelgem:

Looks like fat carbon frame tubes give modern bicycles buoyancy. A far cry from when I was growing up - on hot summer days we would stuff the bearings on our dragster bicycles full of waterproof grease, take them down to the river, and ride full-tilt off the end of the jetty into the river. You had to make sure you kept hold of the bike when you hit the water or it would sink to the bottom of the river.

That is a few possible 'I'm getting too old for this sheit' faces.
Until the next race of course...

Question is, does the bike weight 3 or 4 lb extra once you get going again? ;)

Yeah, ain't nuthin like being blown thru a bunch of cow crap and into a ditch. Bosen Hagen broke his shoulder in one such episode. Paolini crashed twice in route to victory (old guys with beards rule). The pics on the Niewsblad site were epic. Unfortunately, everyone got beat up pretty good-Wiggo was smart enough to bail early, saving some for Roubaix, which will forever have an asterisk because Boonen and Cancellera aren't there .

Oh yeah, look for the youtube video of Jack Bauer's bike toss after someone else's rain cape caught in his rear wheel dumping him unceremoniously to the pavement.

The water is obviously shallow

You can see both sides of the bars on the closest bike. It also appears that the saddle is caught on something and is supporting the bike.

That Chavanal video had me laughing out loud at my desk.
I looks like an April fools fake video.
