Wow, looking like best cycling weather even earlier than expected.

March

It was 0F here this am but in the 40s the other day and the cool thing is most of the huge ice dams fell off my roof. Good thing they didn't hit anything as they could have done some damage.

No, stay away.. it is bad enough I am here...

Oregon No. 1 destination for people on the move

http://portlandtribune.com/pt/9-news/245770-113589-oregon-no-1-destination-for-people-on-the-move

Probably get worse after the winters in other parts of the country being as terrible as they are. More folk back east may say I had enough...

But make sure to Google 'Reasons Not to Move to Portland' first. ;)

Some of the reasons are too true. ;) But maybe the nut cases will calm down if they bother to get out of the house if they actually know the weather is not all gloom all winter much anymore these days..

Sparky, go f*ck yourself.

JK.

It was 10 degrees this morning. We had some warmer weather and rain for a couple of days, falling on the 4-foot snowbanks along the roads. My driveway is 4 inches of solid ice and frozen slush. High today is 25 - normal is 45. Extended forecast says we'll see mid-40's next week, maybe 50's the following week.

I want to start bike commuting so badly, but there's going to be black ice to deal with for at least another couple of weeks.

I'm getting tired of this.

The good news is there are no giant storms in the forecast. Another big snow would be a giant pain, but a big warm rainstorm would make for a whole lot of local flooding, with the snowmounds blocking drainage. So slowly warming dry weather is what we need.

Sparky will fry in his 120 degree hell while we in the northeast will enjoy a lush cool summer.

Maybe not "cycling weather" by some people's standard. But I moved back east from San Francisco for it, cycling notwithstanding.

You need to justify your choice of where to live so bad, you can't do that without putting salt on John's wound?

Perhaps you read a little to much into his post.

Not that I should talk about missing sarcasm, having done so of late on Erik. ;)

I doubt seriously it would even get over 100^ here. but if is was to, seems like this might be the year. Famous last words and all...

In TN, in the summer I had to finish up rides in AUG by 8:30 in the morning. GaahD.. it gets nasty hot in TN.

What is likely for the east coast summer do you all think, given the mass precip and cold snap of length??

I remember NJ in 1997-8 had some super hot spells...

Nah, April, me and Sparky is tight. I don't begrudge him crowing about his nice weather.

I like Portland. My sister lives in Lake Oswego. I haven't been out there for a few years.

Glad you got in a ride. How many miles?

"My sister lives in Lake Oswego. I haven't been out there for a few years."

We lived in West Linn when we got here and I used to bike through LakeO. We are about 8 miles more south of there where we bought the house.

Today was unreal, wish I could share it with my TTF brethren.

"Glad you got in a ride. How many miles?"

30 yesterday, on foot today. Doing dirt tomorrow...

Today is the first ride I've rode since Feb 4. I just moved near the Delaware beach area. When it hasn't snowed or been too cold, the other few days were rainy or extremely windy.

"Nice weather"? Alright, it's only nice weather for HIM.

I know it's really just my problem. I lived in that weather for 3 years (San Fran). I didn't like it at all. So his "crowing" just don't sound all that humorous to my ear.

Two days of riding in a row! I'm on a roll. And I only saw very small splotches of snow from plowing that haven't melted completely.

Seeing some posts elsewhere from some NJ riders about ride-able weather, and getting out and enjoyment. You Joisey folks get out on the road??

Indeed it seems that the "Great Thaw" of 2015 has begun.
Got outside yesterday for a few hours.
The roads are going to wet and sloppy for while, but the ice is gone... :)

Our roads are so bad I would only ride a nth on them. I have no plans to ride my road bike in the foreseeable future.

Seriously? How is 70 degrees not "nice weather" by anyone's standards? I didn't say "climate", I said "weather", as in today's weather. Not your feelings about the seasons changing, etc.

I lived in San Francisco for more years than that, in several stretches. I liked it just fine. Portland is not S.F., BTW.

Anyway, we're getting a slow melt starting here, but it's going to be weeks before the snow is gone.

Sparky, I don't think anyone has any idea what the summer will be like here in the East. Last summer was spectacularly nice, with many days that were warm but not humid. If followed a winter much like this one. Maybe we'll get lucky again.
