and more...

We also got about a foot yesterday, plus it was single numbers F and windy. I had to do some driving, awful. May get another 6" +/- Thursday. I started some PT yesterday for a minor shoulder issue and the therapist said "you should hold off shoveling." I said sorry, not an option...

My nutmegs are buried.

After a slow start, this winter has found its legs. 20 inches a week ago and 12 inches this past Monday. We're supposed to get another couple of inches tonight, and for the third week in a row, they're predicting a major storm for Sunday-into-Monday. Even with a powerful blower I'm running out of places to put the snow. Oy.

It keeps coming

A few more shots from snowshoeing the back 40 this am. Not much left of last week's tracks.

And maybe 10" more coming.

Lovely!

We got our share too. Likely be another work from home day tomorrow, with freezing rain in the forecast. Not my favorite but at least I get to enjoy the snow sooner or later.

All this snow makes for a nice setup for President's Day weekend. I'm going for BC tour (on xc skis) in VT. Single digit expected. Blurrr...

Or maybe I'll alter the plan a little and do something a little closer to home where the temperature will be slightly more agreeable (teen's rather than singles).

Well, we picked the right part of the country to live this time.
Although well above average, we'll take it!

The Cape didn't get much snow...

...and what they did get was wetter than Boston and points north. Linda went skiing in Sandwich yesterday for a little while, but it's too deep around here (Nashua, NH) for anything other than snowshoeing, unless you go somewhere with groomed trails.

The saga continues

-10F tonite, blizzard 15-20" Sat.- Sun.

I choose to apply the cyclist view: "Epic, dude..."

Good weekend for the CT. I love being outdoors in the snow, but not so much in a blizzard.

Cape snow

About a foot on the ground in Dennis but breakable crust. I may have to leave before the next dump so I can get off the Cape.

A lot of snow, some powdery kind too. But I'm not skiing downhill until it warms back up a little bit.

Will be xc skiing. At least the climbing will help keeping warm.

Enjoy your test Rick

Started the weekend off with 2x20 @ftp. Fun. At least it keeps you warm.

Currently -8F. Snow starts this pm.

Had dinner last night with a friend whose son is in Bozeman, MT. It was 65F there yesterday. My friend is concerned there won't be enough snow for skiing when he goes out there in a couple weeks.

The My Hood ski areas are poor this season. If face folks are already hiking where last year was show shoe only...

Cape

Amazingly cold and windy. Went to Paines Creek beach Saturday before I left and the wind had blown ice floes onshore so that the bay was covered as far as I could see. Snowed again Saturday night and no traffic allowed till this morning, so I would have been stuck. On to Santa Fe Thursday, where they could surely use our snow. Will only take my frontside skis.

Such a shame. Hope you get some fresh snow while there.

All my relatives in Reno are crying. No snow, temps in the 60's. Meanwhile here in Connecticut we've had over 3 feet in 3 weeks (good 20-inch pack in the yard) and it was minus 2 this morning.

The water situation in northern California and Nevada is becoming downright desperate. The largest reservoirs are at 25% of capacity. A recent storm raised Lake Tahoe's level 5 inches, but it's still 3 feet below its natural rim, and 9 feet below the maximum storage capacity.

This one missed us

A couple days ago they predicted 20" for yesterday, I don't think we got 2. It stayed south, some towns in southernmost Maine got 20". That's OK, we've got plenty. Cold and windy, I went snowshoeing for a couple hours this am, single digits F. Beautiful (and tough, I've got leg cramps). May get more snow in the next week.

My friend I'm going to Mallorca with is director of public works in one of the towns hit hardest. Bet Mallorca looks pretty good to him right now.

I'm getting rather sick of this whole winter-on-my-door-step thing this season.

Yesterday and today was cold and rather windy. So when a biking buddy suggest we go see a movie (Imitation Game), I promptly drop my skiing plan! :D

But then I found out the shuttle from the complex to the train station will not be running tomorrow, when I need it to go to work! :( Why? When there's only a mere ~1" snow in the forecast??? Turns out they're running rather short on salt and the town is running low of snow removal fund.

So, if they don't plow the road, I'll end up working from home. Except I have doctor's appointment that I would need to re-schedule if I'm not going into the city. All for one freaking inch of snow!!! (I'm on a steep hill, so an un-plowed inch is unfortunately very dangerous)

In fact during the Federal Snowfall disaster of, 197?, what ever year that was. ;) Up Green from the Orange line IIRC.

I know I am breaking you easterner's hearts with my posts and all, but I just mowed my grass. I have never mowed grass in February in my life. Nor December before I got here.
But looking at those pics, I see there is not reason to piss about that!

Although I still sorta do miss the white stuff. Just not quite that much of it! Smokes! Pics are pretty though!
