Horner cortisol levels on the eve of Vuelta a Espana

I know this is not the newest of news, but it is to me being I haven't any coverage opportunity.

To bad being he was defending, or would have been...

IIRC, the UCI and WADA had no problem with him but his team was trying to be "Caesar's Wife" beyond reproach and didn't let him compete.

There's nothing to see here...move along

There is absolutely nothing suspicious about this. He got a waiver to take medication and he was within UCI levels afterward. His team adheres to a stricter standard, so they decided that he would not compete in the Vuelta. It's debatable whether that was the right choice, but it's a done deal.

As for him having no contract for next year, I'd say that's due entirely to his age. He's probably as likely to get an offer as a coach, DS or commentator, as he would as a rider.

Suspicious or not, is it not effecting things for him really is the question.

I can't help but wonder if a potential signing team may not think the medical situation may not be a smoke screen to take care of something otherwise. Or something expected with pre-testing.

Not suggesting that is the case, although it sure is not outside the realm of possibility. I actually have a doubt regarding Horner I did not have previously. One I did not want to have honestly.

IIRC, Froome was in a similar position but since Sky isn't a member of the MPCC, they let him race. The MPCC has a higher standard than the UCI.
