Smith MIPs technology Helmets??

Only 290.00 for the MIPS. I am thinking the mesh might be a good thing. Considering two weeks ago I stung on top of my head by an intruder.

MIPS is the technology that allows the helmet to rotate a bit during the crash. It is tested and has been proven to reduce concussions.

Hot, I saw on the site some graphical representation regarding the air flow both out and inside. If the inside illustration was meant to convince me of anything, it only succeeded in convincing me it was marketing hoopla. ;)

Very curious to see some reviews form riders using one just how much it may of may not vent.

I confess the contrasting color net was a good hook for me style wise. I of course immediately thought of the sting on the head I had recently.

Here 1/2 through summer has the bugs you think are absent somehow causing many a helmet incursion. Soon I will have a poly cap under the helmet, I did yesterday actually as it was barely 60^ when I started out.

A lot of stops and helmet checks for me since the sting. ;) I can do it hands free while riding, but a lot of obstacle avoidance on the bike paths I like to ride on to ward off the car/obstacles. ;)

In other 2-wheeled helmet news...I saw this and my first response was 'SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!'

If Sandi is still riding his 650, or got more into MCs instead of less [impression I have]..

That one would probably be a 'LIKE' for him.

"Shut up and take my money"

[holds up score card] 9.5 points Rob! ;)

I keep thinking it's expensive for a helmet...but then I remember I paid $750 for my Arai RX-Q and realize doubling that for all the techno-goodies is not a bad deal.

Like anything else. If you like something, want something, and can afford that something...

You should get it IMO. Reasons not to are totally personal.. as are the reason for getting it really.

There are a lot of us here which makes that comment completely superfluous and 'Preaching to the Proverbial' of course. You know who 'we' are. ;)

Uh oh. You must be one of those very non-stylish guys (like me) who wear their sunglasses under the helmet straps. Stylish people wear their glasses over the helmet straps but refuse to comment on what happens when they have to whip their helmet off to deal with a biting/stinging bug.

"who wear their sunglasses under the helmet straps"

Actually right side under the leading strap, left side over both so my tiny mirror on the back of the lens sees more than the straps.

I take the shades off and hold them in my teeth...

Skully helmet!!!

Dude, that thing is da bomb!!!! I don't and won't ride a moto but if I did that helmet would be the only thing I would ride with. The built in features are fighter pilot worthy.

You could always wear a bandanna under your helmet as an anit-insect-sting device. I've been using them for about the past 20 years, ever since I started getting bald enough that the choice was the bandanna or sunscreening my head to avoid sunburn through the slots in the helmet. I found that a secondary advantage to the bandanna was that it completely stopped the problem of sweat getting in my eyes during races or hard efforts. And I don't find bandannas too hot during the Australian summer - in fact, the evaporative cooling effect of a sweaty bandanna seems to work rather better than without it.

"wear a bandanna under your helmet"

Too hot for me for that. Until October I guess.. And then I have caps that wick/work for me better than cotton.

I do have the sun issue on my thin top and shaved sides though. When I remember to use sunscreen I don't get a tan on my head. Luckily I tan unless it is really bad for long periods. But that sun is not too good for you skin if you are out a lot... My arms and legs get a lot more than my head with any helmet giving partial shade mostly.
