I guess I didn't Win Jens' Blue TDF bike...

Anyone else enter the drawing for this?

BTW: Jens Voigt has announced that he will attempt to break the world hour record on September 18 in Grenchen, Switzerland.

Hour Record?

Jens is a great rider but I don't remember him being a Time Trial whiz and that's what the hour record probably requires. Tony Martin maybe but Jens?

Also, which record? The UCI just reapproved the use of aero bikes and bars so there are two records available.

i think jensie will do the hour record proud

big motor, flat course, aero bike.

he'll probably bag it, before the TT honches cancellara/martin/wiggins sink their teeth into it and put it out of reach.

random question: is there something about armstrong's ban that would preclude him from going after the hour-record? clearly he's so far away from being able to really do this, just a curious musing on my part.

Since Jens is never a GC contender, we can't know how hard he goes in time trials. he may not go 100%, saving himself for daily breakaways.

He doesn't look very aero when he rides, so I'd tend to think the hour is beyond what he can do.

"I'd tend to think the hour is beyond what he can do."

It seems a little zero sum to me. He may figure he will never be stronger and it is now or never. Unless he manages a deep core motivation, maybe beyond what he may do.

I hope he proves that wrong.

what jens can do

i think his team and has done the math, he's gotta have a chance at sosenka's record.

even though he's old he is in very good condition, they know his 60-minute power, it's a flat TT and they know how aero he can get, plus he'll be riding what i can only assume will be a crazy-aero pursuit-style bike as allowed by the newly relaxed rules.

honestly, there should be no big surprises within his team as to whether he can get the record.
