Isn't one of our Jersey Boys an Arborist ?

I seem to recall some good advice when I got the 16 Thuja Cedars on our TN property. ;)

Here in OR, This privacy hedge planting is common.

I want to take every other tree out of this tight planting to extend the hedge. Anything I should be aware of before 'digging' in?

Will they fill out to each other ? I am assuming yes, but am I assuming wrongly is the question.

It was me. They'll fill out. I'd probably chainsaw the intermediate ones, digging will be difficult.

You could almost leave every third one if you're going to be there a while.

Really? The ones in TN that I spaced 8' apart only had 4' between in 4 years. And it was a drought the first year. We lost a few as well. I should have made the holes bigger, the clay bowls in the orange TN dirt was an issue for them I think.

I think we will dig one out a few of these in from one end and see how intertwined the roots are to each other...

Thanks again for your expertise/advice.

Tress moved, still living. ;)

Task finished.

We left the first 5 at the back of the house alone for ongoing privacy directly behind the house.

The row ended approx where the 12th tree from end/left in picture is now.

Should I know anything before putting any type{s} of mulch, keeping too much moisture in the soil around these now ? Planning on that for next step...

My Son moved all these, I am proud at the job he did.
