There were some questions about the reasons for rolling, and I asked about this at my final PT session today. A big benefit is the massage like effect from the pressure, which stimulates blood flow, flushes toxins, etc. The PT said it was a great recovery technique, and showed me some rolls for the neck and shoulders to counteract long hours on the typical road bike position. I'll also do them for the IT Band, quads, hamstrings, calves, and glutes. The more I ride, the more I should do them. I think this is good.

Well sure

I didn't say blood flow was the only benefit, and the exercises are also done on a number of muscles directly as described. Plus the IT Band works in conjunction with muscles which restrict it if they are stiff or tight. I'm certainly not an expert on this.

I can't really describe the exercises accurately in words. If you buy a roller or look on the internet, you can see a lot of diagrams/pictures.
