Worlds Mens RR - spoiler

Well, I thought that it was pretty much bad decisions by Valverde in the final few kilometres that allowed Costa to get up to Rodriguez with a few hundred metres to go. Firstly, he should have made Costa take Nibali's wheel and sat third in line when Rodriguez had a gap to the three of them - if Costa let Nibali go and Nibali got up to Rodriguez, Rodriguez could have sat on him, in the knowledge that if Nibali didn't keep the pace up, Valverde would get back up to them and was the fastest finisher. And secondly, Valverde should have taken Costa's wheel when he took off just before the last bend, rather than just sitting on Nibali.

Maybe it's that years of being radio-controlled and doing whatever your earpiece tells you have left many riders unable to think for themselves...

No, it was announced in August that Costa will be riding for Lampre next season, so they'll have the rainbow bands in their team, not Movistar.

Rodriguez rode a great race - too bad he couldn't get the win. Valverde definitely screwed up - not sure if he really didn't have the legs like he says but I didn't even see him try to catch Costa.
