i use tubes to produce an endless supply of...

...custom width rubber bands. road tubes for tight stuff, mtb tubes for phatter stuff. and i can adjust width to tweak security vs. stretchyness.

btw...that vid is silly!

I use them in guitar making for clamping the back and soundboard when glueing up. Quite a commonly used method:

Socks

Well, sort of. I got an MTB tube at my LBS that was DOA. I cut a section out and slipped it over the head of my frame pump, which sits down behind the BB, to keep road guck out of the opening.

Not nearly as cool as building guitars, but it works.
