Sea of Rock

Can't remember if the link to this video has been posted before. I did a forum search and didn't find it. Two crazy but rather skilled Austrians riding MTBs down from from the peak of Mt Sommerstein in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The video is well produced and there are some really excellent bike handling skills displayed.

edit: p.s. - The actual video clip is full HD. I downloaded the MP4, put it on a thumb drive, and showed it to my wife on our big flatscreen TV via the Blu-Ray player. She's a cautious descender herself, and reared back in her seat with an exclamation a couple of times at scenes where the riders were shown descending what just looked like normal single track until the helicopter shot pulled back and showed that they were on the edge of a vertical drop of several hundred metres.

Sehr Kuhl

That is "flipping" awesome. Even more than the young guys with awesome technical skills, I love the dudes who in 1972, after a few drinks, thought it would be a good idea to point some old military bikes down an insane rock face. Wow, I would love to hear about the other "shenanigans" those guys allude to.

And while my high school German is rusty, I'm pretty sure the translation to "flipping" is not literally accurate.

That reminds me of the joke:

Q: What statement immediately proceeds a trip to the Emergency Room?

A: Hey, hold my beer and watch this!

Darwin award

Last three words of the Darwin award winners: "Hey, watch this!"

When you're THAT "skilled", it's not nearly as crazy to ride down that sea of rock!
