I guess spring is about here...
Hitting 60s every few days now.
I cut the lawn yesterday. I maybe could/should have sooner, but did not want to get started so soon. It takes off once cut I find. Mower deck all the way up, and still had to do half a mower width at a time. The area the dog uses for his toilet gets really fertilized. ;)
I have never seen grass grow over the winter so well in any other part of the country we had lived.
Good news is 1/2 the rain fall thus far this year from average.

Yeah, I have to mow the lawn tonight too. PNW is hurting for rainfall this year. I hope we get some more rain to make sure the incredible Salmon runs we have had this year will stick.
Always scares me a bit when this happens, I remember getting hammered, snow almost to the coast, in June a few years ago when we had an early spring like this one. Stay tuned! Dry trails in March is nothing to sneeze at though.

So you've not lived in Florida then?

I visited Florida enough times to know I would never live there. ;)
Besides, that is not grass down there. It is short bamboo...
Snow in June, hmm... really? Wow

Water-skiing is great!
Cycling too, if you don't mind riding on flats! ;-)

2 hours at 36F
Not bad, but there weren't many other folks out riding. And a hot shower felt very good afterward.
I've become a wimp since I left Wisconsin.

Canadian Temperature Conversion Guide
Time to slip this in [again]:
COLD IS RELATIVE ....
Canadian Temperature Conversion Guide! (degrees are in Fahrenheit):
50 above - New Yorkers turn on the heat. Canadians plant gardens.
40 above - Californians shiver uncontrollably. Canadians sunbathe.
35 above - Italian cars won't start. Canadians drive with the windows down.
32 above - Distilled water freezes. Canadian water gets thicker.
20 above - Floridians wear coats, gloves & wool hats. Canadians throw on a t-shirt.
15 above - Californians begin to evacuate the state. Canadians go swimming.
Zero - New York landlords finally turn up the heat. Canadians have the last cook-out before it gets cold.
10 below - People in Miami cease to exist. Canadians lick flag poles.
20 below - Californians fly away to Mexico. Canadians throw on a light jacket.
40 below - Hollywood disintegrates. Canadians rent videos.
60 below - Mt. St. Helens freezes. Canadian Girl Scouts begin selling cookies door to door.
80 below - Polar bears begin to evacuate the Arctic. Canadian Boy Scouts postpone "Winter Survival" classes until it gets cold enough.
100 below - Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Canadians pull down their ear flaps.
173 below - Ethyl alcohol freezes. Canadians get frustrated when they can't thaw their kegs.
297 below - Microbial life survives on dairy products. Canadian cows complain of farmers with cold hands.
460 below - ALL atomic motion stops. Canadians start saying"Cold'nuff for ya?"
500 below - Hell freezes over. The Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup

spring? what spring?
Skied (nordic) on natural snow still in the Berkshire yesterday.

You might get another winter storm again late today! ;-)
I don't care for snow at my doorstep. I prefer them on the mountain. The worst kind dumps snow at my door, which then melts into a icy mess, but nothing for the mountains! :-(

Cold *is* relative
But you need to know the scale. I was in Vancouver for work one time when the hotel desk clerk commented that my clothing might not be warm enough, since the temperature outside was "below zero." I, being a doughty Wisconsinite, merely smiled, knowing that he meant it was just below freezing. So always use a (C) or (F) with you temperatures, unless you're speaking of Kelvin Coolidge.

Well, I spoke too soon myself. Back 40-50^ for a spell, then I'll assume the peaks increasing slowly. 51^ is the max high forecast for the next week. It is still winter technically, for a day or so... ;)
I am chomping at the bit...
