ultimate home-brew chain lube (lab verified)

My only complaint about chainsaw bar lube is that it gets very dirty and turns black pretty fast. It stays on nicely, and if you use a chainsaw you're already buying it by the gallon, so it's basically free in the quantities you need.

The stuff is a freakin' mess. Not good for a bike chain even if it does work.

I just got a chainsaw today, and the bar lube. It seems like it would penetrate well. I think I will get some kero and clean and lube a few bike to see how well it works.

Unless it's one of those "stringy" lubes, I think it should work well once the dilution ratio is leaving a proper amount of oil behind after a very thorough wipe-down.
It's easy to home in on the dilution ratio with perhaps just 3 applications, and best to start with a more-diluted ratio in a smaller container for test purposes.
The worst that can happen is that the chain will need re-lubing in a shorter-than-expected interval.

Maybe start with 1 part oil to 4 parts OMS?
