Hardy's down...
Just spoke with Rick's spouse. He went down yesterday while avoiding a pedestrian. Busted ribs and right clavicle. According to his wife, he's going to be OK. Presently in the BI, but home later today.
I'm sure he'll fill us all in soon.
Sorry for the delivery of crappy news...

Crap
Well that sucks. All that cross and he falls on the street. I can't remember which side his existing shoulder injury is on, but a busted clavicle won't help either way. I busted some ribs last year, no fun there either.
Hang in there, Rickster, we need to be in top shape to defend our 2man tt title next year.

Best wishes heal fast and strong.

Spoke with Himself a few moments ago...
Still in hospital; expected to be released tomorrow. He's really banged up: multiple breaks to clav. and multiple broken ribs. Sounded groggy but was very lucid...Yankee proclivities not withstanding.
He's going to be one hurting puppy and will be facing surgeries to fix the breaks next.
I hope to see him tomorrow or Saturday...

Pass along my wishes for a swift recovery...broken bones and surgery suck mightily.

Hate to get gross. Tell him to get the stool softeners started with the oxycodone else in a week the level of misery will be even worse. And do not ask how I know.

Docusate 100mg two or three times a day with a full glass of water. Add senna 1 or 2 tabs once or twice a day if necessary. And don't ask how *I* know.

Rick is pretty banged up
Just got back from seeing Rick. He is going to be spending his third night in the hospital. He has broken all of his ribs on one side (front and back), his clavicle in three places, a has small puncture in one of his lungs, and some internal bruising. Last couple of days he was in a lot pain and they couldn't control it well. He is much better now and will probably be headed home tomorrow if a bruise on his lung doesn't get larger. He's talking alert, and doing pretty well considering.
The put him back on supplemental O2 overnight to help with the lung bruise. No road rash that he mentioned.
He appreciated all the well wishes.

"a bruise on his lung doesn't get larger."
and become a hemothorax.
All his one side ribs, OMG... He took a hell of a shot and is lucky puncture wise as far as magnitude I hope. Like his pericardium if left side...
More thoughts and prayers..

ouch
That sounds nasty indeed. Similar to the crash I had last year but worse. I got the ribs and a punctured/collapsed lung, but my clavicle was OK. At least it sounds like his lung hasn't collapsed to the extent that they stick a tube in and inflate it.
I got off relatively easy in terms of pain from the ribs, but I know those can be very problematic.
You guys say hey to Rick from his ol' tt partner. I sent him an email but it sounds like he may not be typing for awhile.

Man, that sounds nasty. Best wishes for a quick and complete recovery. But no laughing or coughing for a while . . . jeez . . .

Ouch
All those injuries and without the involvement of a car...seems very unlucky. It also seems that from such a small group, we of late have had to send an unreasonable amount of best wishes and get wells. Be real careful out there, and to Rick, a speedy recovery.

Just spoke with long suffering spouse.... ;-))
According to Rick's spouse:
He's resting better and seems more comfortable. The Docs have decided to keep him in for another day. Hopefully home tomorrow. Surgery for clavicle issues won't be for another few weeks.
Hope to see him tomorrow...
I would have rather have taken another hit myself than for this to happen to Rick.
PH, beyond pissed

I'm hoping for a speedy and complete recovery, and that he not try coughing for awhile.
Don't ask me how I know (but had to do with cattle and a bicycle).

I'm aching just thinking about it
Several times over the years I've experienced one or two cracked ribs. Very painful. Unable to get a good night's sleep because no position is pain free. Tears starting when you feel a sneeze coming on because you know how much it's going to hurt. I can't imagine multiple broken ribs on top of other issues. Let him know he's in our thoughts.
