In a spring season that's already seen massive carnage among the elite in the sport, P-R is poised to be a potential death march. The soaking-wet weather has left the pave a muddy mess and more rain is forecast for race day.

The spring campaign isn't even over and most of the stars of the sport are out with injuries. Tadej Pogacar may win it all this season simply by being the only GC contender who hasn't broken any bones recently. The expected dramatic showdowns may simply never materialize.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Literally watching the aftermath of the crash in the tour of the Basque Country now. That was seriously unfortunate carnage. Haven't heard how long Jonas is out but given the multiple fractures and punctured lung I can't imagine he'll be on form for the TdF.

Haven't heard much about the prognoses of Roglic and Remco.

About to turn on the live stream for the ladies' l'enfer du nord.

Yeah, it was. We just watched the full replay on SBS. The course was dry, the day was warm and I didn't see any crashes in the last 85K, but we'll have to see what the weather brings for the men's race tomorrow. The forecast calls for decent temps (50s-low 60s), light winds (under 10mph), but rain overnight and in the morning, ending around noon. With any luck, the latter half of the race will be reasonably dry.

Watching now. Supposed to do a long ride today. Getting off the couch during Roubaix may be a challenge

Well, fortunately the race was decided by legs, lungs and skills, rather than the weather. I'll leave it at that.
