OT: trying to read some emerson

a good friend of mine sent me a booklet of emerson essays. man, i'm having a hard time getting on board with it, getting past first page. i'm doing good to skim it.

it's not like his writings are long, but i'm struggling...is there a trick to setting the right expectations and getting in the right frame of mind?

honestly, it all seems really...indulgent, rambling, unnecessarily complicated, and at times fairly pointless.

the more i read, the more i think "what the hell are you trying to say? just get to the f*cking point, man!"
