Vuelta is a hot mess it seems

It amazes me there are not more 'support' vehicle rider accidents, or do we just hear about it when it is a top and highly paid rider like Sagan?

Then there is Kris Boeckmans, wishing him the best. Looks very very serious too!

They need to bell the cat.

I couldn't find the article, but I recall reading "didn't hear it coming," "they go so much faster through the pack," etc.

Seems to happen in quite a large number of races these days. I guess there are a lot more vehicles around the riders than there were in past decades - more TV cameras, more still photographers, cars carrying "celebrities", neutral service cars and motorcycles, etc.

Organisers have apologised to him but have still fined him.

“Sagan was hit by a reckless auxiliary motorbike in the final kilometres of stage 8 and suffered wounds and burns of first and second degree on the left side of his body, from the hip to the lower leg,” his Tinkoff-Saxo team said in a statement.

“In addition, he has a contusion on his left forearm with an intra-muscular hematoma.

“The team doctor, together with the sport directors at the Vuelta, decided that Sagan cannot safely continue the race with the injuries he suffered.

Mess is getting hotter! WTF is going on over there??

Sergio Paulinho was hit by a TV moto today; now in hospital. This was not an isolated incident. An AG2R (can't remember his name) rider was overtaken by a moto on the inside of a downhill bend and elsewhere riders were shouting abuse at the moto guys for getting in the way.

Froome crashed early on and is losing a lot of time. He gave a TV moto guy a bit of an earful as well.

______
Wonder if other fines are being given out for the verbal abuse the poor moto captains are enduring??

Like Froome telling the camera moto to FOOOK OFFF!
