iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems - WiFried

It is rather odd that Apple has been silent with acknowledging this serious bug for quite some time now. Google: "wifried" They are at the point now of deleting posts in their support community board.

My iPad mini is essentially useless. Thankfully I did not upgrade my iPad to iOS 8. Many months later, still no fix.

Love the hardware, but this software/firmware issue is a big turn off.

No problems here either.

I did read that the iOS 9 will be better about swapping to LTE when the wifi gets weak.

I watch my data so I keep most apps off LTE with the exception of Strava and Safari, only my email is allowed to get to the net via LTE.

I have a 15 kid and wife on my data plan and the kid kills the data with Youtube (which I disabled on his phone now) and my wife lives on effing FB.

Did I ever say how much I loath FB?!

But I degress... Get your mini checked out, I wonder if it may actually be a hardware problem.

Wifried

My ipad mini is wifi only connectivity. If you have cell service you might not notice the problem with an alternate source for connectivity. However many iPhone users have complained, too. . It appears to be a widespread problem. Over 2000 posts on the Apple support community forum. I waited to jump to iOS 8 when 8.2 came out figuring the low hanging fruit bugs with the initial release would be fixed quickly. I updated to 8.3, then 8.4, the current release and still no fix more than 6 months later. Apple has not even acknowledged it being a problem. Instead they seem to be trying to cover their tracks.

That sure smells like an awful lot of folks get to call BS on that one. Months without a fix seems insane to me. And marketing cleanups in the supports base are usually not so obvious. I'd be selling all my 'brand' specific do-dads, months? Yikes!

Is a loss of use class action a possibility I wonder??

Using an original WiFi only Mini, have not seen latency issues while browsing, using Chrome or Safari, just tons of other issues with Google Maps being painful slow, Safari crashing in general and overall system slowness. All possibly just iOS 8.4 issues though the device has 2.4 gig free of 16. I'll turn off AirDrop, which I otherwise never use and see what happens.

I'm seeng a local Microcenter selling refurbished iPad 4 WiFi 32 gig for $300, may just bite the bullet.

I do like my Apple tablet a ton better then the Samsung POS I used for a while.

Class action:
I just got my settlement check for the big AT&T data throttling lawsuit.
Twenty-three cents. A paper check in a high security envelope for twenty-three cents. Between sleepless nights and holding my breath it's been stressful. If I could only afford a lottery ticket today would be the day. When did they remove the sarcasm tag from the BBCode?

laughing

Yep, 23 cents x 23 million (don't ask for a citation!)

It's too deliberate for irony, it must be sarcasm.
