At least he got across the line first

In Eddie B's book there is a great picture of Saronni lifting his arms while the canny Urs Freuler pips him at the line.

And this is one reason why I wasn't 6 inches off Rick's wheel crossing the line....:)

Didn't that happen to Zabel in Milan-San Remo a few years back? He lifted his arms in celebration too soon and Oscar Freire beat him over the line.

Regarding whether bike weight makes a difference, there was an article on this very subject on the Velonews web site recently: http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/08/news/bike-weight-myth-fast-bikes_339880

From link. "The first bike weighs 15 pounds and the second bike will shave off the 3.21 pounds to weigh in at 11.79 pounds."

There is some real world numbers right off the bat. ;)
