TDF stage 1 (spoiler)

Mark Cavendish is a moron!

Once again, he does something stupidly aggressive and causes a crash. If he's out of the race, good riddance, he deserves it! I understand the desire to win in his mother's home town and all of that, but it doesn't excuse being reckless.

Hopefully the other two riders he took down with him will be able to continue. It's amazing that there wasn't more carnage; thank goodness for that.

Kudos to Chris Froome for taking 6th in a SPRINT!

From what I read, he admitted he fooked up and owed an apology to Gerrins. He may have gotten relegated if it did not end that way I am thinking..

Agreed on all accounts. Kudos to him for apologizing and an announcer form of relagation for Ligget and Sherwin for not being objective/at least slightly critical of his maneuver. To a novice like myself watching the reply it was obvious MC was in the wrong.

OTOH, having a real stage for the opening day was great IMO.

Agreed

The typical prolog stages are just lame. This is the way a Grand Tour should start and tomorrow, they have some pretty serious climbing to do. Kudos to ASO for making this start much more interesting.

I just saw the quotes from Cavendish and it's good to see him own up to his mistake for a change.

New Blue Jersey Competition! ;)

And Cav is out of the TDF.

New Blue Jersey Competition; Rider that knocks the most smart phones out of fans hands who are in the road...

Sure looks like a lot of fatter tires in the peloton to me....
