Retail price differences

A colleague referred me to this document while discussing this topic over lunch yesterday. The first couple of pages are worth reading. Yes, the targeted audience is Australians, but its content is equally relevant to US consumers.

It basically confirms what has been collectively noted in this thread: shopping online, exchange rates, willingness to pay, 10% GST charged on imported goods, etc. - in plain English . Incidentally, there's no mention of importers holding consumers hostage with prices.
