Ayuh

Plus he gets in a plug for Schwab Cycles. OK with me, I like that place.

Commuting, some days I'll wear heavy tights and jacket in the morning and shorts and shirt in the pm. I usually go home for lunch so I can make the major change there. But I also have two big Carradice bags on the bike.

My next to last ride was likely my last with shorts only for 2013. Arm warmers been on for a while, at least at the beginning.

Last ride had a long downhill within the first 8 miles. Arm warmers and a shell. Neither on the way back up a few hours later...

So the cartoon of course is timely for most of us presumably. ;)

Stuffing

Stuffing my pockets on the return leg of longer rides is the only thing I don't like about "edge season" riding. I even have to think about what I'm likely to strip off and whether it will fit in the pockets of the specific jersey I'm wearing. Sometimes I wear lighter weight tights (and am colder in the first part of the ride) just because I know the heavier weight ones won't fit in my pockets for the return trip.

When my layering got so heavy that they won't fit in the jersey pocket, I hang up my bike and pull out my skis! (or go mtn biking, in which case I'll have a camelpak anyway)

Granted, I'm pretty warm blooded so I don't need a jacket even at 50 degrees.
